Hi Zip,
I'd imagine those dogs have been removed (or eliminated), as the gal I spoke with when they were still closed, made it sound like they didn't want anyone at the Preserve until this got handled.
Now that's it's lambing season for Bighorn, I'd doubt they'd let these dogs start preying on those, (even if the rams are around).
If they were bold enough to attach one of those semi-wild cows, (who repeatedly migrate over from Morongo Res), they wouldn't hesitate to jump on someone walking they dog there, (as dogs are allowed, just not the ones that eat others!!).

This was the post on Facebook Wednesday

Whitewater Preserve is open! There is still a possibility that a wild dog may be in the area, but we haven't seen the dogs recently and the last sighting was a few miles outside of our property. So while we are reopening, we just ask that our visitors be aware of their surroundings while out hiking. Thank you for your patience this past week!

Hmmm,
Don't think I'd be bringing Toosie the toy poodle there anytime soon!
Maybe the 180 lb. Bull Mastiff I saw in the soon to be Pot Town, of Nipton last week!
Pepper spray isn't a bad idea, me thinks.

Feral cattle terrorize hikers and devour native plants in a California national monument:

We saw them when I hiked with Cameron, Sandy and Marilyn in mid-January.

Miles of smiles,

The article says BLM is studying what to do. They have known they are there for years. So has the preserve. So slow to act.
