Hello. I am wanting to hike from the tram to the summit of San Jacinto peak sometime next week. I completed this walk one year ago with microspikes and a minumum of postholing. I am curious as to the current conditions that I could expect to encounter. It sounds like snowshoes would not be helpful given the current state of things. I have the direct winter route mapped out on gps from last year so navigation should not be a problem. Would microspikes be adequate, or should I bring crampons and an ice tool? Thanks and have a nice day.
