C2C trail conditions

Postby LoveThisSite » Fri Dec 23, 2016 10:59 pm

Hey folks, hoping someone will respond to my last minute post..

I'm coming from Colorado (flight tomorrow morning!), and I'd love to to C2C sometime early next week.
Just wondering what I should pack .. I'll get microspikes for sure, but I'm wondering whether I'll need crampons, ice axe?
If yes, Is the trail upto the tram also going to need crampons and axe? I'm trying to avoid packing and carrying all that weight, but if I have to, I will.

Oh, and I've done C2C earlier, so I'm well aware of the distance, elevation etc. Thanks for the help!

Hi, we just had a big storm with more on the way. Check out Long Valley: https://www.pstramway.com/long-valley-cam/
So I would wear some kind of lightweight boot and gaiter combination. Microspikes and hiking poles probably still OK would be my guess.

Howdy,

I am heading up the tram to snowshoe tomorrow and will post conditions.

Went up Skyline yesterday -- it was a beautiful day in the clouds. Hiked with Cameron, Marilyn, Larry, Kalen and Robin. Pictures are by Cameron aka Neverwashasbeen :-)

Thanks all, looks like it's mostly dry. Weather on Tue and Wed is looking great, I'll plan to hike on one of those days.

Much appreciated!

Howdy Again :)

There is significant snow on Skyline on the traverse. One of my friends who usually completes Skyline easily in under fours took six hours yesterday. With melting and refreezing, it could also be icy.

Miles of smiles,
