Postby tramtim » Sun Aug 21, 2016 12:45 pm

Starting Monday September 12 through Friday September 30 the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is closed for the annual maintenance period. If you are planning on hiking up Skyline be prepared to hike out to Idyllwild as there will be not Tram running. The first Tram will be on Saturday October 1st at 8am.

Well TramTim, that's a long ass time for us to bake down here in the sun!
I propose the tram provide horse shuttle from Mt. Sta to Cafe Aroma! For the inconvenience of course.
And all pass-holders get to ride in front of line. Maybe a box lunch whilst riding, (& some narration like Hieko sp? & John used to!).

Well, probably no narration, but I have it on good authority that they'd play Ottmar Liebert over and over again for you. ;)

No, no, please, and don't mention dark-eyed junco's, how I had a great time, or how I can buy his latest cd at the gift shop!

Vivian Creek is getting lots of traffic now, as not only is tram closed, but I believe VC is the only way to the peak w/ Lake Fire closures.

There is also Momyer to the peak. It's 6-7 miles longer and adds a few hundred feet gain though.

Well, I guess if you really are hard core, you could do it from Forsee or San Bernardino as well. For most people, Vivian, at about 18 miles RT, is the only realistic option.
